TOMMY Sloan insists he doesn’t care who Talbot clinch the title against - with a decider against derby rivals Cumnock still a possibility.

The Beechwood boys moved nine points clear of Irvine Meadow thanks to Craig Pettigrew’s solitary strike at Kilbirnie last Saturday.

They still have to play Medda and Cumnock at home and travel to Hurlford.

Darren Henderson’s men are the only other side that can catch Talbot but even if they win their remaining 10 games - which is unlikely - Talbot would just need two more victories.

As the Chronicle went to press, the fixtures for a week today hadn’t been drawn up and Sloan said: “I honestly don’t care how or who we do it against so I haven’t even thought about the possibility of it being Cumnock. That’s just getting too ahead for me.

“We just want to get over the line and will be striving to do that. But we have a tough set of fixtures and there is no way we think that it’s done and dusted.” Sloan admitted his side weren’t at their best on Saturday as they ground out the win which inched them ever closer to back-to-back titles.

He added: “It’s wasn’t a classic game by any stretch of the imagination. It was pretty dour but we improved after the break and created a few chances and deserved to win it.

“Craig might be a centre back but he chips in with a few goals - and this was another important one for us.” Talbot have no official game today but Sloan has arranged a home friendly with Dalry. The match has a 1pm kick-off.
