POSITIVE: Farrell

STEVIE FARRELL hopes the past two years of financial restraint at Cumnock Juniors can be the springboard to success next season.

The Premier Division's final game of 2011/12 may only have been played on Monday night but the Townhead Park boss has already started his summer clear-out.

Veteran forward Gavin Friels has this month been released along with Brian Miller, Sean Kennedy and Kevin McMinn. Former captain Stevie Murray is also expected to depart alongside Aaron Connolly, Graeme Wilson and Gary Lynn.

Farrell reckons keeping a tight reign on the budget in the last 24 months has put the club on a positive footing going forward.

He said: "We have hopefully got a bit more money available for next season because by tightening our purse strings the club seems to be in a better place financially than it was previously.

"In the last two years we have not taken on any more debt but in those two years we have managed to keep our place in the Premier Division."
