Ayr United Football Academy and Reid Kerr College are pleased to announce the launch of an NQ Football Performance course.

This unique partnership will deliver this course, which is football specific, providing, on successful completion, an NQ qualification and a route to further study opportunities. The course will be bursary funded, commencing in September, and takes place over 36 weeks with candidates becoming full time college students.

The course covers a mixture of practical and theoretical subjects including Personal Well-being & Exercise, Movement Observation, Resistance Training, Football Skills which will be delivered in the John Pollok Centre in Ayr and Communication Skills and Information Technology, which will be taught in Reid Kerr College in Paisley.

Lachlan Cameron, Ayr United Football Club Chairman and a Director in the Academy said:

'This is an ideal opportunity for young football players to continue their education, focussing on a football based sports course, which will allow them to move through higher levels of education and into more widely sports based careers. The successful students will join the Academy"s Pro Youth players on the course and will be given an opportunity to take part in some of the weekly First Team training sessions'

John Baird, Director of the Centre for Leisure Industries, Reid Kerr College, said:

'We are delighted to be working in partnership with Ayr United Football Academy and look forward to welcoming the first group of students. This course will equip students with a unique opportunity to learn and play football while gaining an internationally recognised qualification. '

If you are interested in joining this programme and would like to take place in trial games which are being organised for mid July, please email Malcolm Boyle at malcolm.boyle@aufa.org.uk with a CV, giving academic details, information about football experience and contact details. Malcolm will also respond to any general information requests by email.
