LUGAR Boswell Thistle have signed former manager Keith Stewart, right, as assistant manager to Lauchlan Millar.

Club secretary Millar, who took over as manager in December following Derek McMurdo’s resignation, is looking to build on the club’s off field success in recent years.

He told the Chronicle: “The club has made massive strides off the pitch and now we need to replicate that on it. The club has not been in the right place for a while but now we feel comfortable and financially stable.

“You can’t just bring in players, you need the right structure and bringing in Keith cements that.

“I asked Keith to join me as my assistant manager and I think it’s a major coup for the club that he has joined. This time last year, we wouldn’t have been able to do that so it shows that we have made a big step forward.

“I’ve been trying to bring him in for a long time now and to rekindle the relationship with him so new we can start to put Lugar back on the map.”

Stewart is also keen to hit the ground running. He added: “Lugar are definitely back in business and are very much heading in the right direction. I am sure that with the combined experience, knowledge and contacts of Lauchlan and myself, we will take Lugar to the standard they were back in the good days the fans will all remember.”
