AS well as helping Glens win three trophies, Cammy Marlow enjoyed a personal treble success.

He scored in each of the team’s last three matches and each goal was the product of a spectacular finish as well as being crucial to the outcome.

Saturday at New Tinto Park was no different as captain and man-of-the-match Craig Menzies embarked on a sensational solo run to set up his teammate.

Marlow said: “Every goal in any game is important, and to get three goals this week has been special but the whole season has been amazing.

“Last Sunday in the Scottish Cup Final was easily the best game in my career. The whole team have been brilliant and the gaffer has done a great job.

“It shows — to get three trophies in one season has been unbelievable and the coaching staff, physio and backroom team have all played their part.

“As for the goal today (Saturday) I knew Craig Menzies was going to chase the ball and get it. Earlier on in the season he made a similar run.

“I was running behind him, and shouting at him repeatedly and he cut it back to me. But I was not surprised. I knew what to expect from him.”

Meanwhile, gaffer Craig McEwan celebrated as if it was the first time he had won anything, never mind a third trophy in a few weeks.

He had done his homework on Glens’ opponents in the Evening Times Cup final, who matched them for long periods of the match.

Speaking to the Chronicle, he said: “I fully expected Glasgow Perthshire to give us a difficult game. They won their league and fully deserved to do so.

“Any team that loses three games all season and averages three goals a game are a very good side.

“For the first 60 minutes a wonder free-kick was all that separated the teams. They were different class and it is a testament to the manager and his staff.

“Both teams started to look tired and jaded. It has been a long hard season. But over the piece I think we just sneaked it and deserved to win.

“Cup finals are all about winning the game. I would love to entertain but we just had to win today.

“I cannot speak highly enough about the club and my players who to a man have been sensational.

“But we now have a massive bull’s eye target on our back. We will be a massive scalp for whoever we play and we just need to go out and do it.”
