TALBOT have to bounce back from their disappointing last outing according to Beechwood gaffer Tommy Sloan.

Tucker says his side are chomping at the bit for Saturday's bumper Scottish Cup showdown with current holders Beith to get their disappointing defeat to Pollok a fortnight ago out of their system.

Sloan's Talbot side slumped to a 2-0 defeat against the Glasgow side and their weekend fixture with table toppers Rob Roy was postponed due to snow.

Speaking to the Chronicle this week, Sloan said: "Saturday is the biggest game we have had for a while. There's a lot of importance in it.

"We have to be up for it on the day. They (Beith) are a strong side and it's a tough draw.

"Unfortunately we couldn't get a game on Saturday to get that Pollok game out of our system before the big cup match.

"I was really disappointed with us in the Pollok game but Saturday is a massive game and you don't get a bigger chance to bounce back".

Sloan is sweating over the fitness of one of his sides most crucial players as Gordon Pope looks set to miss out due to an ankle injury.

Sloan added: "He'll be a big loss to us. We don't have a whole lot of cover on the left hand side.

"Gordon is an important player, but we will just have to get on with things and try to get a result without him."

Sloan is also looking for his side to hit their stride and find their top form. He said: "They consistency hasn't been there for us this season and that's frustrating.

"We've already lost three games in the league this year and that's not like us.

"We need to sort out the consistency of our performances and results.

"That starts with Beith on Saturday. These are the games you like to be in a it's one of the biggest of the season."

Meanwhile Glenafton are also in Scottish Cup action this weekend.

Craig McEwan's troops head for Showpark to take on East Kilbride Thistle.

The New Cumnock side will face Glens old boy, Aaron Connoly who now stars for East Kilbride.

Glens boss Craig McEwan said: "It wasn't ideal that our game was off on Saturday but we trained hard and we're looking forward to it.

"Things are going well for us at the minute and this is the Scottish Cup. It's what we are in junior football for. It's the big one. We're looking forward to it.

"They will be viewing the cup the same way we do. Everyone wants to win the cup.

"Their game was off on Saturday as well. We have had them watched twice and they are a decent side, but we want to go as far as we can in the cup.

"Saturday is an important day."

Talbot take on Beith at Bellsdale Park with a 1.45pm kick off whilst Glens face East Kilbride Thistle at Showpark also with a 1.45pm kick off.
