CUMNOCK could have won the derby showdown according to John McKeown.

The Cumnock gaffer watched his side help themselves to a very useful point away to Glenafton on a Saturday and McKeown says they could have taken all three points.

The Townhead gaffer said: "I felt as if we could have won it to be honest. We had more chances to win it than they did.

"Saying that, they had the best chance of the game right at the end so they will be saying the same thing.

"If you said to me we would go to Glenafton, who are absolutely flying at the minute, then I'd probably have taken it."

The Nock boss has been pleased by the form of his strikeforce. He added: "Sean McKenzie got us the goal on Saturday and he really works his socks off for us. Then we've got Scott (Anson) who is fighting for his place in the team and playing well. We've also got young Callum McRobbie as well so we certainly have options."

He added: "We've got Pollok on Saturday so the tough games are coming thick and fast, but it's just important that we put as many points on the board as soon as we can.

"We've opened a decent gap to Largs and Kilbirnie. It's crazy who a desperate situation can look fairly comfortable with a few good results. We've got to start looking up the league now.

Cumnock head to Glasgow to take on Pollok at Newlandsfield on Saturday with a 2pm kick off.
