KELLO Rovers are looking to put themselves firmly in the frame for promotion this term.

The Kirkconnel have made a sensational start to the new campaign, winning three of their opening four games to leave them atop of the Ayrshire District League.

Kello gaffer, Ross Wilson said: "You can't complain. We are unbeaten in four games.

"At the start of the season we wanted to improve on last year. Last Year we finished fifth on 34 points, so I would say if we can reach 35 points that's improvement.

"But we know that every game is going to be tough. If you want to be considered as promotion challengers then you need to pick up points, even if you're not playing very well. I don't really think we have played particularly well in the first four games but we are picking up results and putting the points on the board."

Rovers face a difficult trip away to Ardrossan Winton Rovers who sit second in the league level on points.

Wilson added: "It would be nice to get something on Saturday, but I don't think it will make or break our season.

"Maybe I'm too much of a perfectionist and I'm asking too much from our boys but if we are still close to the top with five or six games to go then why can't we get promoted? But we just need to keep putting as many points as possible on the table.

Muirkirk on Saturday, saying: "Muirkirk's league position is not really reflected. They've got an experienced manager who has won promotion before and they're a very organised side and maybe they just aren't carrying a lot of luck at the moment."
