THIS season West of Scotland Cup winners are firmly in the driving seat to lift the Premier Division title.

That's the word from Auchinleck Talbot manager Tommy Sloan as he prepares his sides for Friday nights West of Scotland Cup final against Hurlford.

The sides meet in the final at Pollok's Newslandfield on Friday and they are the only two sides who can now win the league title. Talbot have one final league game to play - conincidentally against Hurlford - and they know that a win would hand them another title.

Sloan said "We're really looking forward to it. It's a good wee rivalry we have going with Hurlford and they managed to beat us in the Scottish Cup earlier this season.

"I was disappointed that day. Hurlford beat us fair and square and they were the better team on the day. You can't take away from the opposition. They just played better than us that day. I was disappointed that day. They had a better attitude than us.

"So we would like to go and beat them now."

The Beechwood boss is now eyeing the double and he reckons that Friday nights all important final could have a say in where this season league title goes.

He added: "I would say whoever wins on Friday would have all the confidence and momentum to go on and win the league game.

"The West of Scotland Cup is a big one for us and we really want to go and win it but Hurlford will be thinking the same. Both of us are desperate to win."

Hurlford beat Talbot 2-0 in the Scottish Junior Cup Quarter Final back in March.

Talbot have beaten Hurlford this season, racking up a thrilling 4-3 win at Beechwood in the league back in November.

Friday nights game is at Newlandsfield, Pollok with a 7.15pm kick off.
