GLENS stopper Craig Menzies reckons the Ayrshire Weekly Press Cup can soften the blow of his sides failed title tilt.

Glenafton defender, Menzies is raring to go ahead of Saturdays Ayrshire Weekly Press Cup Quarter Final against Irvine Meadow and he says it could be the high the New Cumnock were looking to end the season on.

Dropped points wrecked Glenafton's title challenge and Menzies is ow eyeing Ayrshire Weekly Press Cup glory to close the campaign.

He said: "It's disappointing that it's come as our last chance to get our hands on some silverware. It's a huge opportunity to continue your season and we want to go and win that.

"We still have a chance to better our best league finish and I think we are better than the likes of Kilbirnie, Pollok and Hurlford, so we would really like to finish above them.

"You always want to finish the season on a high. That makes people excited for next season so we'd like to win a cup to end the season.

"Meadow have some good players and because they've been relegated it could be the last game for quite a few of their players so I'm sure they'll want to go out on a high as well so it should be a hard game but we want to win and would like to go as far as possible in it."

Glenafton take on Irvine Meadow in the Ayrshire Weekly Press Cup Quarter Final at Loch Park on Saturday with a 2pm kick off.
