CUMNOCK boss John McKeown reckons he has the best team in the league as they maintain their title challenge.

The Townhead boss watched his side slam in twelve goals in their last two matches and he reckons they still have a great chance of winning title.

Speaking to the Chronicle this week, McKeown said: "We had a bad result against Rutherglen a couple of weeks ago. It was just one of those off days. But I'm delighted we have bounced back the way that we have have."

Cumnock bagged four goals in a sensational 4-3 win over Irvine Meadow on Saturday and followed that up with a thumping 8-1 win over Ardrossan Winton Rovers on Monday night and McKeown reckons his side have enough to now go on and handle the pressure of a title bid.

He added: "Monday was a perfect night for us. Both Clydebank and Kilwinning slipped up and we scored eight. But it will mean nothing if we don't win on Wednesday night against Kilwinning.

"It's still our aim to win it and we still can if we win all of our games.

"There's too much experience in our dressing room to let the pressure get to us. Guys like Paul Burns and James Lundie are too experienced to feel the pressure. We have got that wee arrogant side to us that you sometimes need to go out and win when the pressure is on.

"We think that we have the best squad in the league and we're confident that we can get promoted and still confident that we can win the league."

McKeown hailed sensational performances from Paul Burns and Aiden Malone in his side run in. Burns bagged a hat trick over Meadow at the weekend and Malone fired in four on Monday night.

McKeown said: "Paul has been fantastic all season long for us. His attitude is spot on and he's very driven to win things being a Cumnock boy. He's the one still driving the boys on in the run in."
