BANNED Glenafton boss Craig McEwan reckons his side have cut out silly mistakes to propel themselves up the league.

Glens notched up their third league win on the bounce with a 2-0 victory away to Shettleston on Saturday to put them third in the league despite a poor start to their campaign.

The Glens boss, who is currently serving a TWELVE match ban, reckons his side are now working harder than ever.

He said: "Saturday was always going to be difficult against Shettleston.

"We didn't perform the way we expected early on in the season and maybe we didn't perform particularly well on Saturday but it's three points and another clean sheet so I'm happy.

"If someone said to me three games ago that we would have taken nine points from Arthurlie, Irvine Meadow and Shettleston I'd have bitten their hand off."

Glens have won four of their opening eight games, including the last three. McEwan has claimed that nothing has changed from their poor early season form. He said: "We haven't changed anything. There were too many individual errors early on and that was in all areas of the team, but we knew we would come good.

"We've worked incredibly hard together as a team in the last few games and we've managed to give ourselves a bit of breathing space to the teams at the bottom of the league.

"If we win on Saturday when we find out who we are playing and other scores go our way then we could find ourselves joint top of the league so it just shows you how tight this league is."

Glens are still awaiting word from the SJFA over who they will play this weekend after Talbot were forced to prepare for the Scottish Cup clash for a second week in a row.
