THERE'S no reason Muirkirk can't shock Tayport again and dump them out of the Scottish Cup.

That's according to Kirk gaffer George Grierson who has slammed the East giants for showing his side a lack of respect.

Grierson guided his side to a well deserved replay after they held the former Scottish Cup winners to a 0-0 draw in Fife and they will host the replay at Burnside Park on Saturday.

The young Kirk side were well worth the draw and came agonisingly close to scalping Tayport when striker Graeme Condon saw his effort come crashing off of the crossbar.

Kirk boss Grierson admits he was disappointed not to win the match and has branded the opponents as disrespectful before last weekend's match.

Speaking to the Chronicle, Grierson said: "We were disappointed in a way, we've hit the underside of the bar and just couldn't get that all important goal but they are a good side despite sitting bottom of their league."

Grierson added: "I think it showed that they took us too lightly. They showed us a lack of respect at the start of the game and I think now Tayport will shows a bit more respect heading in to Saturday's replay.

"The boys are getting better week by week and it would be a massive scalp to beat Tayport. It will be a more physical game and it's all about how our lads react to that and to be fair to them they have reacted well to it so far."

Grierson is now hoping for a good turnout from the Muirkirk faithful as he gears his side up to do it all over again. He added: "It's great for the town and all of the locals are talking about it. Hopefully they all decide to come to the game on Saturday and give us a bit of backing and we can get a result for them."

Grierson is now hoping that he can add to his squad as they head in to the difficult winter months of the Ayrshire District League. Grierson handed a Muirkirk debut to Nathan Boyd on Saturday and he has identified former Kilwinning Rangers centre half, Kevin Burgess, as a potential target as he looks to add some experience to his youthful squad.

Kirk will host Tayport in Saturday's replay at Burnside Park with a 1.45pm kick off.
