MAUCHLINE race ace Kai Johnson finished a fantastic fifth in the British GP50 Championship recently.

Kai (11) was last year's Scottish Minimoto Champion and has now finished an impressive fifth in the British Metrakit GP 50 Championship.

Kai finished strong at the last meeting of the season at Llandow South Wales with some of his best racing of the season to finish overall second and his first GP50 trophy for the cabinet. The youngster would have been knocking on the championship door, but was hampered because of a lack of funds. He was running last year's model GP50 which was 8.2hp until his engine was upgraded to 10.3hp with a cylinder kit for the last race.

On the whole Kai has done brilliant in his first year and everything considered it has made him a much stronger and better rider well ready for next season.

He is now looking forward to next year and a decision will be made whether to keep him on the GP50 or move him on to the GP 70 - again this will all be down to funding.

A big thank you goes out to East Ayrshire Car Club (EACC) and the committee for their continuing support and use of their facilities at Kames Circuit in Muirkirk. It would not have been possible for Kai to achieve what he has without their help and support. Information on the EACC and Kai's progress can be found on East Ayrshire Car Club's web page www.eastayrshirecc.co.uk forum.

Kai would also like to thank West Coast Bike Training in Ayr www.westcoastbiketraining.co.uk for their continued support.

Anyone interested in sponsoring Kai is asked to get in touch.
