SPECTATORS at Saturday's Guyson Scottish Championship sprints at Muirkirk witnessed a record-breaker.

Taking the plaudits at the Kames track was Stephen Alexander who broke the Class Record for Sports Libre cars over 1800cc.

He went on to repeat the feat next day when the action moved from the traditional course to the anticlockwise circuit.

Yet the Uplawmoor driver missed out on outright victory both days, having to settle for second best in his two-litre Gibson Nemesis on Saturday to the much more powerful V8 powered Pilbeam of former British Sprint Stewart Robb from Doune and missing out to Aberdonian Steve Marr (PCD Saxon) next day by a mere 0.24 of a second.

There was a good turnout of spectators who fully appreciated the excellent sport on offer from competitors who travelled from as far away as Caithness and Harrogate.
