AUCHINLECK Talbot manager Tommy Sloan has his doubts over what players will start the Junior Cup final.

Talbot take on Glenafton Athletic at Rugby Park, 25 years after their 4-0 demolition of the New Cumnock side in the 1992 final.

After a dismal display in their 1-0 defeat to Cumnock in the West of Scotland Cup semi-finals last night, the Beechwood Park side have failed to score in over five hours of football, losing three matches in-a-row.

And those three defeats have the Talbot gaffer questioning who will start on June 4. Sloan told the Chronicle: "No, it's not the best run of form going into the final. I'm not reading a lot into that.

"I'd rather be going in having won the league and be in winning form but you can't have everything.

"We're delighted that we are there and I'm sure on the day the boys will be right up for it and we'll put on a much better performance.

"I've got players coming back who aren't quite there yet. We've got another 10 days to go which helps the situation.

"If I knew the team I would tell you to be honest but certainly I doubt whether it will be that team that play.

"Things are just not right and you need to dig yourselves out of those things and you can't get a better game to do it than the one we are in."

Scott Anson scored the only goal after a slip by a Talbot defender as Cumnock beat their rivals to reach the West of Scotland Cup final.

After the match, Sloan wasn't just critical of his players as he felt Graham Wilson was harshly sent off. The Talbot boss said: "The sending off's had a big affect on the game.

"Obviously, it doesn't help us when Graham gets sent off for very little as far as I'm concerned but you've got to accept it if that's what the ref thinks.

"It wasn't until late on that we threatened a wee bit. I wasn't particularly happy with what I was seeing.

"There was a bit of a lack of confidence to be honest with you. We're not scoring goals, that's three games in a row that we've not scored.

"You're always liable to lose one and we did with a mistake. It was just one of those ones. All the best to Cumnock."
