Ayrshire Weekly Press Cup Round Two

Troon 3

Auchinleck Talbot 5

HAT-TRICK hero Graham Wilson won this match for Talbot, who had looked dead and buried after 15 minutes.

They had barely mustered a shot on goal when two strikes in as many minutes from livewire Ryan Nisbet put the home fans in dreamland.

But Tommy Sloan's side also had a double destroyer in their ranks, Dylan Pooler, who made it 2-1 with a low shot in 41 minutes.

Then, on the stroke of half-time, he levelled the match when he won a 50-50 and stabbed the ball home.

The interval interupted Talbot's momentum slightly and they afforded Mark Curragh too much space and time in the 49th minute.

He had time to bring the ball under control, with no defenders in sight, before volleying a spectacular shot past Andy Leishman.

Curragh should have made it 4-2 when he intercepted a wild back-pass but shot just past the upright.

Talbot's cause looked hopeless in 57 minutes when Ross Harvey got a straight red card for a bad tackle on Dale Moore.

But Tommy Sloan, one of the named substitutes along with coach Allan McLuckie, played a tactical masterstroke.

In the space of five minutes, Bryan Young and Graham Wilson replaced Martin McGoldrick and Dylan Stevenson.

Young made an imediate impact by getting on to a Keir Milliken lay-off, but shot over from a few yards.

His fellow sub also stamped his authority on the game...and how.

Three goals in three minutes devastated the Seasiders and left them drowning in a flood of attacking football.

An overlapping Willie Lyle released Pooler, who passed to Young, who, in turn, setup Wilson for a super shot to equalise on 79 minutes.

Dean Keenan concedes a foul wide right and Talbot took the lead from the free-kick. Gordon Pope's cross was met perfectly by Wilson who bulletted in a header.

With Troon in disarray, Talbot sealed the win. The home side lost possession from the kick-off and the ball was played forward to Wilson gathers who took three steps and hammered his hat-trick past a helpless keeper.

TALBOT: Leishman; Lyle, Pope, Harvey, McGoldrick (Young 63), McPherson, Thomson, White, Milliken, Pooler, Stevenson (Wilson 68).

Subs not used: Hewitt; Sloan, McLuckie.
