MAUCHLINE’S Scottish internationalist badminton stars have paid several visits back home to take part in coaching sessions.

They were invited to the East Ayrshire Leisure badminton programme at Mauchline Games Hall — which is where it all began for the talented pair.

Adam Hall and Holly Newall both attended the afterschool sessions as children and went on to make badminton their careers, moving to the Glasgow School of Sport.

From there progression was steady as, working with top coaches, both represented Scotland at the junior level, then adding major national titles to their CVs.

Now they have graduated to playing against the best players from Europe and beyond with Adam winning an incredible 29 national titles, including a title for every age group he has participated in.

Holly has won nine national titles and several major regional events and has also competed on the international circuit.

A spokeswoman for East Ayrshire Leisure said: “It speaks volumes that, despite busy training schedules and commitments, the players found time to go back to their roots to attend training sessions at Mauchline Games Hall.

“We would like to thank Adam and Holly for supporting our badminton programme and wish them continued success in their careers.”
