SUPER PREMIER DIVISION
LARGS THISTLE 0 CUMNOCK JUNIORS 1
The referee might as well have blown his whistle after two minutes when a wonder goal for Cumnock was to prove to be the only difference between the teams over 90 minutes.
The 20 yard volley from Cumnock's Adam Hunter soared into the postage stamp corner of the net giving Largs stand-in keeper Sean Graham no chance.
Largs came close when Fisher's long throw saw Nicky Jamieson have a header saved on the line by Johnson. Jamieson also headed over the bar from one of a series of corners forced by Thistle.
At the other end, Largs goalie Graham made two important blocking saves when Cumnock got into the box.
Largs pressed to get a foot back in the game but Cumnock were defending comfortably and looking to hit them on the counter. Only last gasp tackles by Walton and Jamieson stopped McKenzie adding to the Nock tally.
The points were virtually sealed when Largs were reduced to ten men in injury time when midfielder Jamie McDonald was sent packing when he picked up his second yellow card.
Largs Thistle boss, Stuart Davidson was also dismissed after protesting to the referee.
