A HOST of Nock stars face being dropped for the all important after their humiliating Scottish Cup defeat.

The Townhead side were sent crashing out of the cup at the hands of Central District First Division outfit Wishaw on Saturday.

Manager John McKeown was furious with his sides showing and he says that he is now being forced to make changes to the starting eleven for Saturday's derby against Talbot.

A fuming McKeown told the Chronicle: "It was so disappointing on Saturday. I just felt the other team wanted it more than we did and I can't accept that from my players.

"Wishaw showed more desire than us and we didn't match them. It's just not acceptable.

"I warned them about the danger Wishaw brought and things need to change.

"Wishaw deserved to win the game and that's not good enough."

The raging Townhead gaffer read the riot act to his troops at half time on Saturday and he says that he will make changes for Saturday's bumper derby clash at Beechwood.

McKeown added: "There will 100-per cent be changes. It's quite simple. It won't be accepted. The way we have been playing isn't good enough. We've won just one in five and we have to turn that around. We need to go back to the drawing board. They've had a few games to get going. Either they have to change things or I will."

Talbot got back to winning ways on Saturday following a poor string of results with a home win against Arthurlie in the League.

A Craig McCracken header proved to be the only goal of the game as Talbot ran out 1-0 winners.

Talbot boss Tommy Sloan admitted he was relieved to get back to winning ways ahead of the derby after defeats to Beith and Glenafton.

Sloan said: "We've managed to get a win on Saturday after a disappointing couple of weeks.

"I'm delighted to get out of that wee rut and get a wee bit of confidence back.

"Beith and Glenafton both deserved to win against us and I was disappointed with that.

"Saturday we managed to get a win a that always helps. But it's a home game for us and a big derby game and they usually tend to take care of themselves. Cumnock obviously had a bad result at the weekend, but you just have to go out there and try to win."

The sides previously met in a Ardagh Glass League Cup clash back in August where they played out a 1-1 draw at Beechwood.

Last term the sides met in the semi final of the Evening Times Cup, with Talbot winning 2-1.

The sides also met in the Scottish Junior Cup fourth round where Talbot ran out 3-0 winners.

Saturday is the first league fixture since Nock won promotion from the First Division.

Saturday's game takes place at Beechwood Park with a 2pm kick off.
