HIS side have played one league fixture in two months, but Cumnock boss John McKeown is just glad that his side's fate is in their own hands.

Nock beat Shotts Bon Accord 3-0 and since then have only played one league match, 1-1 draw with tabletoppers Largs Thistle. Cumnock currently sit eight points adrift of Largs at the summit of the First Division, but they have three games in hand as they play catch up.

The Townhead boss said: "With the way the results are going it's in our hands now.

"It's been frustrating. Apart from the Largs game and the Talbot game we have had to keep the players ticking over with friendly matches.

"We've not been helped by the fact that we are playing at Lugar. Although they have been very good with us, the club doesn't have much income coming in and with almost no games it's not been ideal."

Nock are back in action this Saturday when they host Rossvale at Rosebank Park in the New Coin Holdings West of Scotland Cup second round.

McKeown is confident heading in to the match and it relishing the chance of coming up against his old pal Martin Lauchlan. He said: "Martin and I were team mates in our playing days so I think I know Rossvale pretty well. They have some good young players who used to play for Partick Thistle, so it's a trick tie."

Rossvale are currently second in the Central District First.

The match takes place at Rosebank Park, Lugar with a 2pm kick off.
