GLENAFTON claimed top spot in the west on Saturday and the Loch Park boss says that his sides hard work is paying off.

Glens cruised to a 2-0 win away to Kirkintilloch Rob Roy on Saturday with goals from JP Boyle and Joe Andrew that saw them leapfrog their hosts as they moved to the top of the Premier Division.

Glens gaffer Craig McEwan has guided his side to a sensational run of form and he has heaped praise on his grafting side.

Speaking to the Chronicle this week McEwan said: "We are absolutely delighted. Before Christmas we wanted to win all of our league games and the league cup game against Kilbirnie and we did that.

"We have reaped the rewards of our hard work. We got of to a shaky start but we have made a few changes and the boys are working harder than ever. But we're taking it one game at a time .

"I'd be lying if I said we weren't delighted with how things are going. We made the changes and since then we have kept four clean sheets. I think that shows that we're not just here to make up the numbers. We believe we can do something this year. But you always give yourself that 25 point target to reach as soon as possible. We are still aiming for that and when we reach 25 we can then reassess and see where we go from there. There's still plenty of work to be done."

McEwan is also looking to tie up a loan signing to cover for the injured Dan Orsi and is hopeful of having a deal in place for the weekend.
