IT was the lowest moment of his time at Talbot.

That was the feeling Beechwood gaffer Tommy Sloan was left with when his side were dumped out of the senior Scottish Cup in the shock of the round.

Sloan's side travelled to Broadwood Stadium only to be sent packing by Cumbernauld Colts as the slumped to defeat.

The Talbot boss was left far from happy with his sides performance and insists that they must perform when they return to junior cup action on Saturday.

Speaking to the Chronicle, Sloan said: "It was murder. We had a really great opportunity to get through and,. with no disrespect, I felt it was a very favourable draw.

"I've got excuses there if I want use them as an out but we're not looking to make any excuses. It was a poor, poor performance.

"It was areal downer for everybody. It's one of the lowest moments in my time here."

Now Sloan is looking for a reaction from his side when they travel to take on Tranent in the second round of the Scottish Junior Cup on Saturday and he's hoping that it won't be a Halloween horror performance.

He said: "We are coming off of a very bad result and they are coming off of a great result and they are sitting top of their league so we know we must up our levels this week.

"I get the feeling that there's a lack of confidence in some of our players at the minute.

"In the league we are going well, with three wins from four and the one defeat but we've still had a disappointing few performances. The only performance I've been really happy with has been the Petershill game away. It's not the results I have been unhappy about, just a few of the team performances."

Sloan headed in to Saturday's defeat with a defensive selection crisis as he was without centre half pairing of Mark Campbell and Martin McGoldrick. He said: "It wasn't just the fault of the defence. We play as a team and we just didn't play well enough."

Sloan heads in to the Tranent match with two injury doubts. Mark Campbell has a back strain and remains doubtful. Striker David Gillies has a calf injury and is doubtful.

Talbot take on Tranent at Foresters Park with a 2pm kick off.
