Darren McGill opened the scoring with a peach of a free kick from 25 yards that gave the keeper at full stretch no chance.

Ally Park’s delicate chip from the right hand side of the box was met by Mick McCann on the six yard line the edge of the box and he bulleted his header beyond the reach of the goalie to double the visitor’s lead.

McCann bagged his brace guiding a cut back from Joe Andrew into the net from close range.

On the stroke of half time Chris Malone made it 4-0 with a low drilled shot from deep in the box through a ruck of players that caught the home defence off guard.

Muirkirk came within a whisker of pulling one back after the restart but instead they fell further behind as Glens broke upfield and although McCann’s effort cannoned of the advancing keeper high into the air, Craig McGuffie kept his cool to trap the ball and slide it home.

McCann was denied his hat-trick after his cute curling shot from the corner of the box beat the keeper but crashed off the post, as John Paul Boyle found himself in the right place to force the ball over the line and complete the scoring.

The home side’s keeper had the last say, getting down low to push Andrew’s angled drive past the post.
