THERE’S a revolution bubbling in New Cumnock.

Glens boss, Craig McEwan is as well ahead as any junior manager with his pre-season preparations and he sees no reason why his side can’t mount a challenge in next season Premier Division.

The Loch Park gaffer has added experience to his squad this past week, with the additions of ex-Tablot duo Ally Park and Mick McCann and the capture of highly rated Kilbirnie Ladeside stopper Chris Malone. McEwan now has a strong squad on paper, with 17 currently on the books. The Glens boss is hopeful of adding at least one more to that in the coming weeks.

Speaking of the new recruits, McEwan said: “Chris Malone is a fantastic player and he’ll be a calming influence at the back. He is a real leader on the park and that’s just what we’re after.

“Mick McCann is a great signing. He’s a proven goalscorer at this level and he’s been there, done it and worn the t-shirt with Talbot so he has a lot of experience.

“Ally Park is in the same boat. He’s doen it all with Talbot he has come here looking to play as many games as possible.

“I never liked playing Ally as a player because he’s such a good player.

“If you look at all three of them, they have all played senior level and they wll improve the squad.” Looking ahead to the next campaign, McEwan said: “We have added strength and depth to the team. What’s more important is they have all signed up on two year deals.

“I’, quietly confident going in to the new season. I’ve set my target to be up there challenging with the likes of Auchinleck Talbot, Hurlford and Irvine Meadow. They are all good teams but there’s no reason we can’t mount a challenge of our own.

“What we have going for us is we haven’t made wholesale changes like some other teams. We have the same core of the squad and we have improved on that.” The New Cumnock side begin their gruelling pre-season training on Saturday before they host the Meldrum Cup and then head south to Durham for matches and a team bonding exercise.

Off the pitch their has been a change in the Glens backroom staff. Assistant manager, Stevie Kerrigan has stepped down for personal reason and first team coach, Craig Potter has been promoted up to assistant.
