Black Belt 1st dan Charlene Dalton won the gold medal in the patterns event and a silver medal in the sparring competition; Ross Hunter won a bronze medal in the red belt patterns event, while Harrison Cross showed his potential in the sparring, patterns and special technique competitions in the children’s green belt category.

Instructor Margaret Weir, a four-times ITF European Gold Medalist, was delighted with her students performance and said that they should all be very proud of their achievements, adding: “Charlene, Ross and Harrison have worked very hard to get to this level where they can compete against some of the best junior Taekwon-do talent in Scotland and they can be very proud of what they have achieved.

“They all train very hard in class and while Charlene and Ross were rewarded for their efforts by winning medals, Harrison can also be proud of his performance in what was his first competition. This experience will give them all confidence to continue their development and compete in future competitions.” The Cumnock ITF class will be moving its’ base in the near future with the twice weekly classes being held in the Barrhill Community Centre in Bank Glen from Tuesday April 7. The Tuesday class runs from 6pm - 7pm with the Friday class from 5pm - 6pm. The class is open to all, irrespective of age and new members are always welcome.
