Aaargh! Missed special day
It irked me to discover that I missed Talk Like a Pirate Day on Sunday.
In fact, you could say I was extremely disarrpointed, but I'd rather you didn't. It only rubs salt in the wound.
It would've brightened my day to walk around giving out hearty 'Ahars!' while calling everyone 'Jim, lad' - especially my old pal Jim Ladd.
At first I misheard what the day was called and thought they'd said 'Talk Like a Parrot Day', which would involve screeching in a high-pitched voice 'Who's a pretty boy, then?' Although that is not a million miles away from the actual day title - after all, Long John had a parrot on his shoulder, to the eternal chagrin of Mrs Long John who had to clean his coat every day - thankfully I was wrong.
Talk Like a Pirate Day was the latest in a long-line of special days I've missed. Wear Your Wellies to Work Day springs to mind, as does International Kissing Day. But then, I always miss out on the latter. At Christmas the girls in the office hang me up and kiss the mistletoe.
So, in order for me to ensure I enjoy the fun and frolics, I'm going to develop my own special days. Here's a few:
Walk Like an Egyptian Day, especially for Bananarama fans - as is...
Talking Italian Day, especially handy for when Robert De Niro's calling;
Stick your Finger in Your Ear and Go Ting-a-ling-a-loo Day, or Benny Hill Day for short in which we all run around in an over-cranked style and slap bald men on the head (busty beauties in various stages of undress optional);
Buy the Cumnock Chronicle Day, that would be every Wednesday but only for the really cool folk.
If you can think of any more special days, let us know....

Report commentThank you - just testing! But I'm sure you were impressed with my knowledge of obscure Benny Hill tracks.

Interesting blogg that one which I just happened to stumble across, sounded just like you even after what,..... going on 21yrs at least I'd guess! Well as a suggestion, I think there should be a "Rochelle day" for sure. Take care and happy blogging. Ro.
