Drivers in the UK could face a fine of up to £1000 for driving with an out-of-date licence. 

UK driving licence holders must renew their driving licence every 10 years through the DVLA. 

Drivers caught with an out-of-date licence can face fines of up to £1000. 

The expiry date on a driving licence can be found on section 4B of your photocard licence. 

The DVLA does not automatically issue renewed licences. 

Motorists receive a written reminder to renew their licence at a cost of £17 every decade. This service is free for over 70s.
