A second criminal investigator has made astonishing claims that Madeleine McCann died in her holiday appartment and that her accidental death was "covered up".

American profiler Pat Brown told Australian website news.com.au that "Madeleine is dead."

She said: "There’s no point spending all of this money as nothing they do is going to make that child alive."

Ms Brown, 62, who runs a crime agency in America added: "When I analysed (Madeleine’s) case, it led me to believe evidence does not support an abduction.

Glasgow Times:

"An abduction was extremely unlikely based on the amount of time, evidence at the scene, and every other shred of evidence there has ever been."

Yesterday, Portuguese crime expert Moita Flores also spoke out about Maddie's disappearance, making silmilar claims.

Madeleine disappeared from the family's holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in Portugal in May 2007 aged three.

Her parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, have vowed to "never give up" hope of finding their daughter.

Since 2011, the Metropolitan Police have been assisting with the search for clues about what happened to the youngster, with officers visiting the holiday resort in 2014.
