SHAMELESS crooks are being hunted by cops in Sanquhar and Auchinleck following two separate thefts this week.

Gallus crooks in Sanquhar stole two quad bikes worth £10,000 whilst thieves in Auchinleck pinched five mountain bikes in Auchinleck worth £1,000.

Two red coloured Honda quad bikes were stolen from a farm at Crawick, Sanquhar, sometime overnight between Thursday June 25 and Friday June 26.

The bikes - which were newly purchased just two months ago - were stolen in a break-in to an outbuilding at the farm.

Inspector Rory Caldow, Police Scotland Area Commander for the Sanquhar area, said “We are asking members of the public to get in touch if they saw or heard anything suspicious in this area overnight. Often the key to catching those responsible rests with information we are given by members of the public who provide the necessary missing piece to the jigsaw. I am appealing to anyone who can help us to call us at Sanquhar on 101.

“I would also remind the public to stay vigilant with regards to the security of their property and if they need any advice then I would ask them to call Police Scotland and ask to speak to their local; crime reduction officer who will make an appointment to attend and carry out a free security survey.” Call 101 if you have any information relating to this incident.

Police are also hunting for heartless thieves who nicked bikes worth £1,000 from Auchinleck Academy.

The bikes went missing from Auchinleck Academy on Tuesday June 16.

The bikes are valued at £200 each. Police officers later recovered two of the bikes.

If you have information then call Cumnock police office on 101.
