Project A Frame is a festival to celebrate ‘counter culture’ art and music on the Barony Road A Frame.
The festival came under fire last year from one disgruntled former miner who branded it a ‘rave on a grave’ as a result of bodies of four dead workers killed in a disaster in 1962 remaining underground at the former Barony colliery.
But festival organisers are keen to distance themselves from such claims.
Organiser Andrew Kyle-Crawford said: “We are planning on running another Project A Frame event this year at the Barony road site.
“Though we do have one problem, and that is a lack of funding.” Organisers have set up a crowdfunder webpage with the target of reaching £5000 by selling 250 tickets by next month.
This will allow them to put in place fencing, security, toilets and insurance, all of which is required for the licence to be granted.
This years’ event has been earmarked for August 1 Andrew added: “There are now only three weeks left to raise the £5000 which will get the event off the ground this year. Each person who pledges £20 will receive a ticket for the event if we hit the target.
“If the target is not reached, then the £20 will be refunded. Pledges can be made at www.crowdfunder.co.uk/projectaframe.” The crowdfunder ends on May 22.
Project A Frame will have three geodesic domes on site kited out with HQ audio and visual systems which will host a selection of DJ’s. playing a range of music from funk & soul to techno and reggae.
“As well as the music there will be a licensed bar, hot food, live art, craft stalls, a pyramid cargo lounger and the “psychedelic speed boat”.
