It could be someone working in the NHS who has gone the extra mile to help you? They may work in a hospital ward or behind a desk, and could be a clinician or a volunteer but there are people out there who will be given the accolade of local hero in one of eight categories.

They are — Building relationships, Caring for people, Light bulb moments-creativity and innovation, Customer commitments, Volunteer of the year, Learning achievement, Team of the year, and Staff health, safety and wellbeing, with members of the public, as well as employees of NHS Ayrshire and Arran and partner organisations, able to make a nomination.

Last year’s awards were a great success with 46 nominations across the eight categories, and there are various ways to out forward your hero for this year — call 0800 169 1441, e-mail comms@aaaht.scot.nhs.uk, or visit www.nhsaaa.net and follow the link, How to get involved.

John Burns, Chief Executive of NHS Ayrshire and Arran, said : “Every day we hear of examples of our dedicated staff going the extra mile. They don’t do this in anticipation of awards, but because they are committed to providing safe, high quality care.

“This is an opportunity, however, for their colleagues and members of the public to say they noticed.” , so if you know of someone who deserves to be recognised, we would be delighted to hear from you.”
