The event was staged in partnership with Jobcentre plus, Skills Development Scotland, East Ayrshire Council and East Ayrshire Council of Voluntary Organisations.

Pupils from Auchinleck, Cumnock and Doon academies were amongst those school leavers attending a special session for the first hour of the event, giving them the chance to see what opportunities are on offer for training and study, as well as jobs.

The following session was open to all and once again the stalls were kept busy with a number of employers taking CVs and applications for current vacancies. Ms Jamieson said: “Once again we saw hundreds of local people come along to meet employers and training providers.

"It was good to see that the range of jobs on offer included construction, engineering and financial services, as well as in the care and hospitality sectors, a number of employers took CVs and applications on the day for current vacancies, so hopefully they will be soon be offering positions to successful applicants.

" It was a pleasure to meet people who had previously attended the employment fair looking for work, but who are now in jobs. " Laura Livingston started as a volunteer for the Princes Trust and this year was at the fair as one of their Jobs Ambassadors, looking to help young people take the first step into employment.

"I would like to thank everyone from partner organisations who helped make the event worthwhile, and Kilmarnock FC Community Engagement Manager Paul di Giacomo and Garry Hay of the SFA for coming along and encouraging everyone. “
