World-renowned hair stylist, Simon Shaw held an exclusive hairdressing seminar at Ayrshire College recently.

One of the most motivating hairdressers within the industry, Simon Shaw, European Artistic Director, Wahl (UK) Ltd is widely known throughout the hairdressing community for his innovative and fun approach to teaching. His career has spanned 24 years and in this time he has held over 1000 seminars throughout the UK and 200 globally.

Considered a grooming guru, his fun approach to hairdressing and education harness his skills to showcase new techniques that push the boundaries of traditional hairdressing. Some top tips that he shared with the students included: Work hard and make extra time to perfect your techniques Make eye contact with clients when speaking to them and allow them to feel comfortable and confident in your hairdressing Listen to the clients’ needs and don’t make decisions for their hair without speaking to them about it first Know all of your products well and use them on yourself wherever possible before using them on clients Listen to music while you are practising as it is a good way to perfect a rhythm in your techniques.

Simon’s seminar was inspirational and showed what can be achieved by working hard at college to become a successful and talented hair stylist.
