A PLANNING application has been submitted to East Ayrshire Council for yet another windfarm.

This time it’s a nine turbine windfarm near Rankinston.

Edinburgh based renewable energy developer, PNE Wind UK, has submitted an application for Polquhairn Wind Farm just south of Sinclairston.

If consented, the proposals, which the company says are the result of extensive community consultation and environmental and technical studies, could produce 22.5 Megawatts (MW) of power.

It would also create a community benefit fund of up to £112,500 per annum throughout the lifetime of the wind farm, the firm has claimed.

Megan Richardson, Project Manager for the company, said: “Following an extensive and positive community consultation programme we are pleased to be submitting our plans for Polquhairn Wind Farm to East Ayrshire Council.

“We have worked very closely with local residents and consultees to ensure that the proposals we are bringing forward are appropriate for the location and reflect the feedback we have gathered throughout the development process.

“I would like to thank local residents for their interest in our proposals and look forward to continuing our community involvement as our plans progress.” The full planning application can be viewed at the Rankinston Community Centre, Ochiltree Community Library and East Ayrshire Council headquarters in Kilmarnock.

It can also be viewed electronically on the Council’s website: http://eplanning.east-ayrshire.gov.uk/online/ by searching for the reference 14/0860/PP.
