DRIVERS will experience disruption on the A70 Ayr to Cumnock road, near Ochiltree for up to two weeks from Monday, December 1.

A section of the road, between its junction with the C61 and Burnock Bridge, will be affected with a convoy system, and possible two-way temporary traffic lights, in operation.

Work being carried out includes kerbing, footway resurfacing, carriageway resurfacing and renewing road markings, while the road will close completely on December 6 and 7 between 8am and 6pm.

Traffic will be diverted from the A70 at Dettingen Roundabout, Cumnock to the A76 at Templeton Roundabout, Auchinleck, turning right onto the B7083 at Mauchline Road, Auchinleck, then via Pennylands Road, and Barony Road, before re-joining the A70 at Ochiltree and vice versa.

The £100,000 project, which is weather dependent, is being carried out by the Ayrshire Roads Alliance, as part of its ongoing roads network improvement programme.

Some delays will be inevitable, and drivers are advised to add sufficient time when planning their journey.
