PERFORMERS from the Cumnock Area Musical Production Society (CAMPS) are staging Aladdin The Panto at Cumnock Academy over four days next week.

Tickets are on sale on the door, and in advance at Kenny’s Menswear and Words of Wisdom, with group discounts also available — e-mail secretary@camps.me.uk for details.

A spokesman for the society said: “The plot consists of many turns and twists, love won, lost — and won again, while there are lots of laughs and slapstick comedy. The production follows a very traditional style and encourages much audience participation, so we are inviting people to come along to old Peking and meet Wishee Washee, his brother Aladdin, and their downtrodden mother, widow Twanky. Of course, a pantomime is not a pantomime without an evil villain and Abanaza will not disappoint, neither will our flying carpets, and magic galore provided by the Slave of the Ring and Jeanie the Genie.” CAMPS have secured a lease for the Barrhill Centre and are hoping to move in soon, and have said they will honour all lets while they strive to develop their range, which they have developed over the 10 years they have been in existence.

“The group is hoping, in the near future, to extend access for both young people and those young at heart to a variety of theatrical, musical and art opportunities,” the spokesman added.

Aladdin, produced by Ciss McCreadie, can be seen at Cumnock Academy from Dece 3-6
