SANDRA Osborne has added her support in calling for a public inquiry into historic sexual abuse in Scotland.

The Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock MP said; “Survivors of historic child abuse in Scotland are entitled to justice. Action is needed and the way forward is to start with a public enquiry. These victims have been ignored far too long and it is disappointing the Scottish Government will not commit to a public inquiry.

“Scotland is the only part of the UK that does not currently have an inquiry in historic institutional abuse. Children are entitled to be protected and victims need to know why the abuse was allowed to continue for such a period of time.

“I have been in contact with Graeme Pearson MSP, Scottish Labour Spokesperson for Justice, to support his call that the Scottish Government act on the issue of historic sexual abuse and await news on how the Scottish Government are progressing with this.”
