A false alarm was raised after fears that a light aircraft had crashed in Mauchline yesterday.
The alarm was raised with Police Scotland who have confirmed to the Chronicle that the plane in question made a safe, controlled and scheduled landing at a private runway in a field.
A member of the public saw the aircraft heading in the direction of Prestwick Airport and when they saw it flying over the Lochside House Hotel in New Cumnock assumed it was an emergency landing.
The incident was reported to police shortly after 3.30pm on Wednesday afternoon.
Police Scotland have confirmed, after speaking to the pilot, that there was no crash and nobody was injured.
