ISLAY Dog Rescue, based near Cumnock, highlight three dogs who desperately need new lives this week.

IRIS is a young, female lurcher. She is approximately 18 months old and has, we believe, been a working dog. She is actually much prettier than her picture. We recently re-homed Iris but unfortunately she has been returned to rescue.

Her owner reported her to be an absolute sweetheart. She is completely house trained, can walk beautifully on the lead, is non-destructive when left alone, is very affection and has proven to be good with children. She also travels well in the car.

However, Iris has an extremely high prey drive. She cannot be let off lead and any prospective owner would have to guarantee Iris would be kept on one at all times.

She is spayed, fully vaccinated, micro-chipped, flea’d, wormed and assessed. She is currently available for re-homing subject to a satisfactory donation and mutually agreeable donation.

VICTOR is a 3-4 year old German Shepherd Dog. As you can see from his picture, he is an absolute stunner. Unfortunately Victor was hit by a car and his back end suffered some damage.

He has had surgery on one of his back hips and is currently attending hydrotherapy at Roseburn K9 Hydrotherapy in Cumnock. Here he is making a great improvement.

He is neutered, fully vaccinated, micro-chipped, flea’d, wormed and assessed. Although he is ready for rehoming now it would have to be with an owner committed to carrying on with his hydrotherapy.

Important: it would not cost the new owner anything for the hydrotherapy as Roseburn K9 have very generously donated this time/expertise for no charge. He currently receives two 30 minute sessions each week.

OWEN is a full breed Staffordshire Bull Terrier and is a very pretty small dog. He is approximately 6-7 years old and is an absolute hoot. The wee guy is full of character and charisma and will make a superb addition to his new home, wherever that may be. He is fully house trained and loves a jaunt in the car.

Owen has proven himself to be good with other dogs ad the rescue and interacts with them all appropriately during exercise time. During his time in Emergency Boarding he was taken on many pack walks and presented no problem with any other dogs he met. He also cat tested very well and so we believe, with careful introductions, he could live with cats.

This handsome little fella is a very affectionate bundle of love. There is nothing he likes more than to snuggle up on the couch next to you and snore his evening away. He can walk well on the lead and just loves to play with a ball.

Whilst in Emergency Boarding with Homeless Hounds in Lancashire he attended a fund raising day at Pets at Home. Here be proved to be a fabulous ambassador for the breed - being happy to meet and greet everybody who went into the store.

He does have a wee bit of a secret though - Owen likes to hide! At night time, when he goes to his bed, he wriggles and wrestles, scrapes and snorts until he gets himself in a comfy cocoon. He sleeps all night wrapped tightly in his blanket. Owen could live either as an only dog or with another calm dog. He is desperately unhappy in kennels. He could live with dog savvy children over the age of 8 and could potentially live with dog savvy cats.

He is neutered, fully vaccinated, micro-chipped, flea’d, wormed and assessed. He is available for rehoming subject to a satisfactory homecheck and a minimum donation of £130.
