AN AUCHINLECK girl has followed in the footsteps of popstar Jessie J after donating her hair to charity.

Fiona Taylor, 17, of Auchinleck Academy, had 14 inches cut from her crowning glory for the Little Princess Trust - supported by Jessie J - last week.

The hair will be made into a wig for a child who has lost their hair through cancer treatment.

Charitable Fiona, who is also involved with blood cancer charity Anthony Nolan, claimed she didn’t think twice about chopping her hair.

She said: “Everyone always said that I had really nice hair and it made me think about people who aren’t as fortunate and who through illness or other reasons don’t have any hair.

“I was thinking about getting my hair cut shorter anyway and then I read up about the Little Princess Trust and thought it was a great idea to do it for them.

“My family were very supportive and my friends all love my new haircut too.” Fiona, who is hoping to raise money for the charity in future, was cheered on by her mum Janice during the haircut.

Janice said: “She’s very aware of others less fortunate than herself and she had talked about doing it for a while.

“My niece has a medical condition so she’s been around children who need help from these types of charities.

“She did her research on a number of different charities and decided to go with the Little Princess Trust, we’re very proud of her.”
