IT took two years of planning - but the Coalfield Communities Federation have finally been able to show off their project to commemorate the 100th anniversary of WW1.

The hard work started back in March 2012 when the Federation members held a development day to discuss the future work of the Federation.

One of the most popular ideas put forward was to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the First World War.

It was then decided that a sub-group made made of Federation members would oversee the project and be headed Mary Wisener.

The Federation would like to thank the Cumnock Area Musical Production Society (CAMPS) for their hard work on staging a two-performance run of ‘Jimmy’s War’ at Cumnock Academy. Both performances were wonderfully acted by the CAMP members.

The group would also like to thank Peter Scally and John Webster for bringing their World War One memorabillia to the three exhibitions in Mauchline, Logan and Dalmellington.

A big thank you is due to Rev John Paterson for allowing the Federation to host the project finale Commemoration Service at the Old Cumnock Old Parish Church and also administering the Order of Service for the commemoration.

Ian Smith, chairperson of the Federation, added: “And last, but not least, the public who attended the exhibitions, performances and the commemoration service.

“We at the Federation are indebted to you.”
