THIS time next week we’ll all be ready to make the biggest decision in Scotland’s history.

And our two Labour MPs hope months of canvassing on behalf of Better Together will bear fruit when the final votes are tallied up.

Cathy Jamieson has been seen working her way around her constituency and admits she’s contacted over 1000 votes in a frenzied last week.

And speaking to the Chronicle, this week, she said: “Over the past few weeks and months we have been out knocking doors morning, afternoon and evening, contacting over 1,000 people in the last week alone.

“We have had a great response and we are confident that with one final push we will get the No vote that we all want and need.

“However, every vote is crucial, so Scottish Labour campaigners will be out knocking doors until the last moment on Thursday 18th, reinforcing our positive message that Scotland is better off as part of the UK and ensuring that voters have the facts they need to make the right choice in the polling booth.

“This is a critical vote on Scotland’s future and any help is very welcome. If you want to join us to campaign for Scotland to stay in the UK, please call Party Organiser Josh Cole on 07803 203606.” Sandra Osborne was in Cumnock on Tuesday night to chair a meeting with Scottish Labour leader Johann Lamont at the Dumfries Arms.

And ahead of Scotland’s date with destiny, she said: “The polls are showing what we always thought that this could be a very close call. I am confident that we can win this referendum if we go on campaigning for every No vote right up to the close of poll and that’s what the Labour campaign team will be doing.” The Carrick and Cumnock MP also commented on the claims by the Yes camp over the privatisation of the NHS.

She said: “The SNP have lied about the NHS. The Scottish Parliament has total control over the future of the NHS. Nothing can change that. Alex Salmond is privatising services in Scotland’s NHS right now. Last year millions of pounds of your money paid for private healthcare. The biggest threat to the NHS is Alex Salmond’s £6b black hole in Scottish finances should Scotland become independent. The sick should not have to pay the price for Salmond’s obsession with independence.”
