Young people in Ayrshire can find out more about college and university life at Skills Development Scotland’s (SDS) Higher Education Convention on Monday 1 September in the Park Hotel, Kilmarnock.

The Convention will bring together representatives from over 30 Higher and Further Education institutions in Scotland and elsewhere. They will be available to offer advice and information and answer questions about a variety of courses.

SDS careers advisers will be at the free event to give impartial, one to one advice.

The Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) and UCAS will also have stands at the Convention and their representatives will be on hand to speak to senior pupils.

While the sessions are aimed primarily at 5th and 6th year pupils, anyone interested in finding out about Higher Education opportunities, including parents and college students, are welcome to attend. Parents and carers may want to find out more about the new qualifications and the effect on UCAS applications.

The opening hours from 9.30am until 12.15pm and from 1.30pm until 3.15pm.

SDS’s Cheryl Ballantine said: “The Convention is a great way for young people and their parents to find out the facts about courses, colleges and universities by giving them access to all the experts at one time and in one place. Having all the information they need can make the decision making process a lot more easy.” To find out more contact cheryl.ballantine@sds.co.uk or visit www.myworldofwork.co.uk/heconventions
