Police Scotland Officers in Kilmarnock are appealing for information and continuing enquiries after a 46 year-old man was seriously assaulted in Kilmarnock.

Around 6.30pm yesterday (Wednesday), the 46 year-old man was walking outside the Lifestyle store on Titchfield Street, Kilmarnock, when he was approached by a man who then assaulted him.

The injured man was taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock then later transferred to Glasgow’s Southern General Hospital where he is being treated for a serious head injury.

Detective Sergeant Alan Paterson of Kilmarnock Police Office said today: “This appears to be an unprovoked attack on this man as he was making his way home last night. Officers are carrying out enquiries in the local area and studying CCTV footage in an effort to gather more information on this crime and the man responsible. At this time the only description we have is that the suspect was wearing dark-coloured clothing.

“I would urge any witnesses, or anyone with information that may assist police enquiries to contact Police Scotland on 101. Alternatively CRIMESTOPPERS can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
