HOUSES and business were left without water for nearly 24 hours after a mains burst in Mauchline last week.

The incident occured late on Thursday, June 26 and continued well into the next day.

A spokesperson for Scottish Water said: “A squad attended to carry out repairs. There was a second burst at around 1pm which may have caused some wider disruption to supplies in the area. We tankered water into the mains to minimise this disruption and repairs were completed by late afternoon. We apologise to customers for any inconvenience experienced.” Local MP Cathy Jamieson, who lives in Mauchline, was also affected and kept locals updated via her official Facebook page.
