CUMNOCK will have a real fling this August when the Highland Games return - along with the Saturday night Tattoo.

It’s been three years since a host of pipe bands converged on the town for the tattoo event.

Broomfield Park will again host the popular games, this year on Sunday August 24.

All of the main attractions set to return including the Highland Heavies competition, Highland Dancing, Pipe Bands and lots of family fun.

The Tattoo will offer an evening of live music, entertainment and spectacular fireworks onSaturday August 23.

Organised by a team of volunteers, Cumnock Highland Games has grown to become one of the biggest open air events of its kind in East Ayrshire, attracting thousands of locals and visitors to Broomfield Park.

And despite funding cuts, the Games promise to be bigger and better than ever with a 'Bannockburn 700’ theme running throughout both days. Further details will be announced over the summer.

Jim McMillan, Secretary of Cumnock Highland Games, said: “We are delighted to be returning for 2014, with what promises to be a packed, fun-filled programme for our ninth annual gathering. In particular, I am very pleased to confirm that the Tattoo will return this year, bringing an evening of pipe bands, live music and entertainment to Broomfield Park, topped off with some spectacular fireworks.” Further details on Cumnock Highland Games – including the naming of the 2014 Chieftain – will be announced at a later date.
