SANDRA Osborne has claimed thousands of Scots could lose their pensions slashed if they vote for independence later this year.

The Labour MP insists a new European Union report confirms breaking up the UK would see the many pension schemes of people in Ayrshire and Scotland close.

She said: “If Scotland leaves the UK, it has been confirmed by the EU that Scottish company pension schemes must overnight fill a huge funding black hole. The implications for people in Ayrshire who are members of these pension schemes and for the companies themselves are huge.

“It’s now clear that independence puts the pensions of hard working Scots at risk.” Sandra will host a public meeting to debate the issue of Pensions in the event of a ‘Yes’ Vote on Thursday May 8 at 7.30pm in Ayr Town Hall and is delighted that Gregg McClymont, Shadow Pensions Minister will attend.
