RESIDENTS are being urged to keep their homes safe.

Police Scotland is offering local people in East Ayrshire advice to help keep their home safe from intruders after several housebreakings over the last few weeks.

To help prevent such thefts Police Scotland are advising that good home security can prevent you from becoming a victim.

Constable Peter Brown, said: “House breaking can have a long-lasting emotional impact on victims, leaving them feeling isolated and vulnerable. However, by implementing just a few simple measures you can reduce the chances of it happening to you. Following some simple and practical advice on how to deter thieves, can make you more secure in your home”.

Cops are urging locals to do simple things such as making sure your back garden is secure & there’s a solid fence surrounding your home, making sure your gates sturdy & padlocked. They say you should never leave tools or ladders lying around your garden AS They can be used to break into your home and advise installing security lighting to light up your garden.
