SLICK salespeople who offer you the moon on your doorstep should be questioned closely - and make them prove everything they claim is true.

The advice comes as local Trading Standards chiefs gave their backing to a national campaign to protect vulnerable people from rogue sellers.

Latest Consumer Direct figures revealed there were 6,427 doorstep selling complaints in Scotland in 2011.

And in a push to protect those most at risk, East Ayrshire Council Trading Standards is joining forces with the Ofiice of Fair Trading's (OFT) Summer Doorstep Selling campaign, empowering local residents to deal with unwelcome doorstep sellers.
